A quality check of all in-service glucometer units and their equipment is required at the beginning of each shift or as soon as possible.
There should be enough lancets, bandages, alcohol prep pads, and test strips for multiple patient contacts.
Control solutions expire 90 days after opening.
Contact a member of the leadership team if any of the units fail QC or if equipment is missing or malfunctioning.
The control ranges are listed on the test strips package, not the control solution bottles.
